Wow Lady! You Just Made My Day!

Yesterday, I went out and did my normal routine of walking the dogs before I left for work. The wind was whipping and it was pretty cold out so I re-thunk my outfit for the day and got dressed for the current cold weather instead of the warmer weather that was expected later in the day. I ended up in a cute black & white printed long-sleeved trapeze style dress and added black leggings and black knee-high boots with 3” heels of course. : ) I thought I looked pretty darn cute, if I may say so myself. I am really, really happy with all the stylish maternity clothes I’ve managed to find! So anyway, I’m all bundled up and head out to work. Well, as the day progressed it became warmer and warmer and now I feel kinda silly in my winter wear when it’s clearly a nice spring day. So by the end of the day, I’m a bit uncomfortable and I had to stop at the grocery store because I was cooking dinner. After driving around and around trying to get a spot up front, I finally gave up and took a spot kind of far away. You already know walking isn’t my strong point and now I get winded easily (I get winded just taking a shower! ). In addition…I waddle. So here I am waddling like a duck across the parking lot, over dressed for the weather, breathing heavy, and probably looking quite disheveled (I mean, it was the end of the day…and I’m not one of those ladies who reapplies makeup throughout the day). No longer am I feeling that I look even remotely cute. In fact, I feel sticky and just worn down. I look up and notice this woman smiling at me. I smile back (which I always do when I make eye contact with anyone) and think to myself that I look a hot mess and she can’t help but smile at the site she’s seeing. As I got closer she stopped me and said “What a beautiful mother-to-be you are! You look so cute pregnant!” Wow Lady! You just made my day! I’ve always been the type to compliment someone, even strangers. If a woman is carrying a bag that I like or has on some hot shoes or even a really cute haircut…if I get the opportunity, I will let her know it! It’s the power of a random compliment. You never know what kind of day the recipient is having and you never know what kind of effect two little sentences may have on his/her day. Just hearing that random compliment from that stranger gave me the little extra push that I needed to gather my groceries (along with a piece of Von’s bakery cake! *lol*) and make the long trek back to my car…and feel good while doing it. Have a nice day!
