Do NOT bring a pregnant lady "Weight Watchers" food!

It's Monday morning...I hope you had a lovely weekend! We had Bee-YOU-tiful weather in San Diego all weekend and I was dead set on enjoying it. Before I get to the recap of the weekend, let's explore the title of this post shall we?

It's about 8:30 Friday night and all of a sudden I wanted cake. Mind you, I don't have a sweet tooth so me craving cake is rare. Al said he didn't want to go get cake in the middle of the night and for me to eat some of the Halloween candy that's still in the freezer. Ummm...not the same. It was the icing that I was craving. You know the "make your teeth hurt" sweet buttercreme icing that the bakery uses? That's what I was craving. So being the wonderful guy that he is, he gets up at about 9:00 to get me some cake. He asked what kind I wanted and I started to tell him what the grocery store usually has, and he cut me off. He said, "what kind do YOU want?" So I said, "Lemon. With lemon icing but they're not going to have that--" again, he cut me off. Now, let me state that Vons has the BEST cakes!! If you go to their bakery section, they usually have fresh, individual slices out for you grab. This is what I was expecting, this is what my mouth craved. Al called me from the store and said they didn't have lemon cake, they had a lemon tart or white cake with white icing. I told him to go with the white cake with white icing. Again, this is what I was expecting, this is what my mouth craved. About 5 minutes later, Al arrived and pulled out a box of Weight Watchers prepackaged lemon cakes. Let me reiterate: WEIGHT WATCHERS PREPACKAGED LEMON CAKES.

I looked at the box and wailed "Baby, nooooooo!" This was NOT what I craved. This was NOT the fresh bakery cake with sinfully sweet icing that my mouth so desired! In my mind, this was an INSULT. He was calling me fat! All of that went through my mind in about ohhhh zero point four seconds and I was having a fit! Not yelling or anything (we've never yelled at each other), but remember the snot-nosed crying that I told you about before? Well, add hyperventilating snot-nosed crying to my arsenal. Now close your eyes and try to envision that scene! *lol* Al being Al, just sat calmly on the couch and tried to explain that he was simply trying to get me EXACTLY what I had originally wanted: lemon cake with lemon icing. He was ecstatic that he found my first choice of cake, but was he greeted with smiles and accolades? Ummm...far from it! *lol* I ended up stomping off to the bedroom and crying myself to sleep over cake gone wrong, and Al ended up going back to Vons to get the bakery slice of cake. I woke up Saturday morning and ate my cake along with a piping hot mocha. Mmmmmmm, it was delicious...but I admit, not worth the drama from the night before. However, my hormones made me do it!!! *lol*

Anyhoo, Saturday was perfect. My friend, Cara, came down from Orange County and we spent the afternoon catching up on TWO YEARS worth of happenings. Yes, it's been over TWO YEARS since we last hung out, so there was LOTS to talk about. We ate at the gorgeous "George's at the Cove" in La Jolla. We had a patio table which had incredible ocean views. After lunch, we headed down to the La Jolla Cove and soaked up some sun while STILL catching up. It was a wonderful afternoon with wonderful company and we promised to not let two more years go by without getting together.

Yesterday, I went out baby furniture shopping again. I am convinced that I am NOT going to find a bargain on what we want. I looked and looked and confirmed that the first place we visited was not overpriced at all. Sooooo....now that we know the prices of baby furniture, I can go ahead and pick out what I want without wondering if I'm being taken for a ride. The wallpaper should be here tomorrow so we'll definitely get started on baby's room this week!
