I get by with a little help from my friends...

Hey everybody! Well...28 weeks and counting! In just a couple of days, I’ll be able to say only 2 and A HALF months left to bake! My little girl was soooo active yesterday and pretty much all through the night. She flipped and kicked and wiggled most of the night, but I didn’t mind at all. I love feeling her movement and I try to play with her to see if she'll respond to me yet. No dice yet. *sad face* : ( It's okay though, I just massage whatever little body part of hers that's poking through my belly!

We had a pretty busy weekend. I visited shortly with my mom yesterday, but spent the good part of the day with my dearest and best-est friend, Pamela, who is hosting our baby shower at the end of June.

A little background on Pamela…we’ve been the best of friends for ohhhhh all of 17 years and counting! And through those years, we’ve only had ONE fight. It was a doozie though…it lasted 6 or 9 months. What was it over you ask? Well since you’re forcing it out of me I’ll tell you the story. Waaaaay back in 1993 (or somewhere around there) when Stella, Pamela, Katrina, Violet, and I all worked at Farmers Insurance (that’s where we all met), Pamela and I got in a HUGE fight. You’ll never guess what it was over. Money? Nope. Gossiping? No. A man? Heck no! Hair? Well how’d you guess?!? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my best friend and I got in a huge fight over an innocent comment I had made about her HAIR!!!! What the…?!? That’s exactly what I was saying! Okay, what had happened was…we were all at the lunch table getting ready to eat lunch. The day before, Pamela had announced she was going to relax her hair that night. You have to realize that back then, if we got our hair done, the next day was a show-off day! We’d curl our hair, and make an extra effort of looking cute. So anyway, the day after her announcement, she showed up to work with her hair in a ponytail. This is how it all went down:

(Pamela arrived at the lunch table with her hair slicked back into a ponytail)
Me: Oh, I see you didn’t get a chance to relax your hair last night.
Her: What? My hair looks a whole lot better than yours!!!
And that’s when the fight started.

*LMAO* I don’t know what was eating her that day but for some reason, she thought I was calling her hair nappy! But I wasn’t! Looking back, we could’ve cleared that up EASILY had we spoke two more sentences, but for some reason we didn’t. The funniest part is that we still had to have daily interaction during our feud! We had the same friends so we sat at the same table during our breaks and lunch…but we completely IGNORED each other. We would talk to everyone else but each other and go out of our way to avoid eye contact. I can only imagine what the rest of our “crew” was thinking – but they never said a word! They just let us be mad at each other. *lol* On top of that, my boyfriend at that time and Pamela’s husband were the best of friends so they would hang out on the weekends but we refused to deal with each other. *sigh* Women!! Yes, it was silly and trivial but it was just growing pains and it made our friendship that much stronger!

Anyhoo, yesterday, Pamela and I worked out the menu for the shower and just went over my expectations of the beautiful day(Expections? Moi? Of course I have none! *lol*) . We ate lunch at Chili’s and she was AMAZED that I actually ate all of my food whereas she had to take half of hers to go. We did some major catching up (it’s been almost TWO months since I’ve seen her) and then I headed home…exhausted.

All in all it was a great Sunday! I’ll have to tell you about Saturday in another post. I’ll leave you with a slideshow that includes pictures from over the years of my very dearest friends who have known me since I was at least 19. Katrina and I met when I was 16! They’ve watched me go from being the life of the party (who could forget “Cashmere”??) to now a mommy-to-be. I’ve made some additional very dear friends along the way and am thankful for each of them, but this slideshow is all about Pamela, Stella and Katrina – my sisters (you can click on "view all images" to see each picture). Enjoy!
