Miracle Babies 2017
Well, here we are...back to where it all started! Last year, this was Kali's very first official 5k and here we are one year later and she's still running! To be exact, this was her 7th 5k with 6 of those being run in the first 5 months of this year. Check out her race bling, trophies and awards she's already earned at the tender age of 7! We're so proud of her! In addition to wanting to be a veterinarian, she also wants to be in the Olympics some day. We know she can do it if she tries!
We chose "The Flash" for this year's Superhero themed run and of course, the costumes were on point. : ) It was actually pouring rain this morning so we had ponchos ready to wear if we needed them but luckily we didn't. The rain held off for the time it took us to finish (31 minutes 16 seconds for Kali and 36 minutes 3 seconds for me) and then poured buckets not too long after!
Once again, we had a blast at this run. Here's a video of Kali running her heart out and a rare video of her showcasing her dance moves!

For the Love of Animals....and Bubbles!
Today we visited the Wild Animal Park with the Kizers. We had visited a couple months ago but before that, we hadn't been here since Kalissa was 2 or 3 years old. She is still so very amazed by all the animals. Not just the cute ones, but all of the animals from the huge Elephants to the tiny humming birds and everything in between. She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. On this visit, she was able to feed the beautiful lorikeets. We attempted to feed the butterflies too but it was late in the day and they had been fed so well by everyone else who came before us so they weren't coming to us to feed.
While we were there, we also took in the Bubble Show that featured MILLIONS of bubbles in all shapes and sizes! Kalissa had a ball catching and playing in them.

Howdy Pard'ner!
If you haven't learned by now...I love a good theme! And Kalissa gets to benefit from my obsession! Today was Western Day at her school so I put together this down home outfit, complete with manufactured freckles and sent her on her way. The only thing missing was cowgirl boots, but her school only allows sneakers as footwear and I didn't want to break the rules. Wasn't she the cutest?!?

Sac Town 10
We spent this weekend in Sacramento to run the Sac Town 10 mile race (well, Kali and daddy ran the 5k)! You know we are serious about our running if we're traveling over 500 miles just to run! Actually, I "won" a trip to this race through my job and of course the family came with me. I put "won" in quotes because is it really a reward to have to run 10 miles?!?The 5k went on the course 1st. There were a couple of hills but more challenging was the fact that it was HOT out! Up until now, we have been running in overcast/cool weather so this was a challenge, at least it was for me. The end result was Kalissa finishing in 34 minutes 35 seconds and I finished 10 miles in 2 hours 8 minutes and 32 seconds. It took me a few minutes longer than expected because I had a meltdown mid-course where I almost quit due to it being so hot. But then I thought about having to tell Kali that quit so I hunkered down, went back on the course and finished! As I approached the finish line, she came running towards me to help me finish the race (as usual) and I became a crying mess!!! LOL! I love that Kali & daddy crossing the finish line was captured:
Since this was our first visit to Sacramento, we also toured the city and took in the gorgeous scenery. We were amazed by all the huge trees and beautiful flowers everywhere. I guess that's the result of a city that receives ample rainfall! We're just so used to seeing brown lawns and rockscapes in San Diego.
