Glucose Schmoocose!

Yesterday we had our 28 week appointment which included being tested for gestational diabetes. The ladies at work told me how horrible the orange drink was going to be and I was getting my mouth prepared to chug down the nastiness. Well, surprise surprise…it wasn’t nasty at all! It was about 12 ounces of an orange flavored drink that tasted like flat orange soda to me. The nurse told me I had 5 minutes to get it down…I don’t know if it was the fact that I had just come in from 85 degree heat, but I was done in about 30 seconds! It was nice and chilled and I didn’t mind it at all. In fact I could have downed another! *lol* The funny thing was that no sooner than I stepped into the doctor’s office I got my favorite question from a stranger: “How do you walk in those shoes?!?” *sigh* The appointment was uneventful, the doctor said we’re doing great and that was about it. Of course we got to hear her heartbeat which is always a treat. Speaking of her heartbeat, my pregnancy book said that Al may be able to hear it at this point just by putting his ear to my belly, so we tried it out. No dice. However, he was able to hear her moving around in the fluid and now I’M the one who’s completely jealous! I wanna hear! I wanna hear!! *waaaaaaahhh*

After our appointment we had to decide on dinner and for some reason Al suggested my favorite: fried chicken wings and spaghetti. Al is a fabulous cook and I really love his wings. We went back home and cooked dinner together…I made the spaghetti. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day. But wait, there’s more!!! You guys know how I can sleep through a party, right? I’m just a very heavy sleeper and it’s even worse with being pregnant. Anyway, after dinner I plopped my full belly down in the living room chair with my feet up on the ottoman, belly exposed in all its glory and prepared to “watch tv” (that’s code for go to sleep). Right as I was drifting into la la land, Al came over and kissed me and said “I love you”….then he bent down, kissed my belly and said “I love you too babygirl” (he might have used her name, I can’t remember though *lol*). Ahhhhhhhh, I couldn’t respond because I was too far into lala land to come back but I clearly heard it and it sent me to sleep with warm fuzzies.

It’s the little things I tell ya. Little bitty things like that.

So glad to hear the test was perfect! That was such a sweet story about after dinner. You and I share that in common, I can fall asleep anywhere. LOL

p.s. Al sounds like a sweetheart! I'm so happy for you!
