I'm a Big Kid Now!

Today we took a giant step and converted her crib to a day bed!  We had planned to wait until she turned three but that's only a little over a month away, so today was as good a day as any.  She's never actually asked not to be in a crib and she truly seemed to like it very much.  Trust me, if she didn't like it she would definitely tell me. Case and point...I was watching Wendy Williams a couple of weeks ago and she took one look at the tv screen and told me she did NOT like Wendy's short wig (I didn't either but I don't tend to give unsolicited comments on other folks' style choices).  Of course I had to get it on video:

So clearly she knows what she does and doesn't like and isn't shy about letting it be known.  She also decided she does not want to wear pull ups anymore.  At all.  We only put them on her during nap time and bedtime but she never ever used them.  So basically we are wasting money but I really do not want to deal with a mid-night accidents and having to change sheets and bathe her and whatever else comes with bed wetting so spending a few dollars to safeguard against it was worth it to me.  Well, not to her and she informed me that only babies pee on themselves and she didn't want to wear a pull up anymore.  I suppose to drive her point home, she had to pull a fast one on me.  The other night, I sent her to her room to change for bed (as I always do) which she knows means to change from panties to a pull up and put on her pajamas.  She did as she was told (or so I thought).  The next morning when I got her up, the first thing out of her mouth was, "Mommy I'm not wearing a pull up!"  Low and behold, she only had on panties under her jammies!  Again, she let me know that babies pee on themselves.  *lol*

Anyhoo, Daddy decided to convert her crib today and she absolutely loves it!  She spent a good half hour jumping into and out of it and couldn't wait to tell Oma that she's a big girl now and has a big girl bed.  She also told me that she wants it to be sparkly.  I'm guessing that means she wants prettier bedding but uhhhh, she'll have to wait on that!  Also with her new bed, she decided she wants a butterfly dreamlite.  I'm thinking about getting that for her birthday but Daddy thinks it'll make her dependent on it to sleep.  She's not at all afraid of sleeping by herself or afraid of the dark, but for some reason he thinks this might make her be.  I think she just thinks it's a cool toy!

Here she is taking her very first nap in her bed....and she didn't fall out either!  Now I'll just have to hope that she doesn't take advantage of her newfound freedom and go exploring in the middle of the night!
