Testing Testing

Kali's birthday is coming up and so is her birthday photoshoot!  This year, we decided to shoot at the beach since she's always asking to go to the beach.  We are not beach people and she's never been to the real beach...just the bay and a lake.  Since she's never been to the beach, we thought it would be a good idea to take her before her photoshoot just so she could get acclomated to the sounds of the waves and everything so that she's not shocked on her big day. 

So last Sunday, we headed over to a quiet little beach in La Jolla. As soon as she saw the ocean, so was sooooo excited!  She kept yelling out, "there's the ocean!!".   We had to make some effort to keep up with her on the walk from the car.

As soon as we reached the sand, she immediately took off her shorts and headed towards the water.  Then the sounds of the crashing waves hit her and she was too through!  *lol*  She grabbed my hand and said, "Mommy, I don't want to anymore!" Awwwww!  No sooner than we got there, she was ready to go!!  Not later.....NOW!  There was definitely no opportunity for photos other than ones of us leaving...

It's a goooood thing we did a test run because this would not have been a good photo session!  We're going to take her one more time and hopefully she will get over the sounds and be able to have some fun.  If not, her 3-year pictures are going to be hilarious...and sad! *LOL*

We also tested a new hair style....the "twist out".  Last week at the party, a hair stylist recommended that we try As I Am products and said she actually uses them in her salon.  I couldn't wait to try a twist out on Kalissa even though I didn't think her hair was quite long enough to hold the style.  So we got rid of her Jane of the Jungle 'do and spent the night twisting up her hair.  The next morning she looked like this...

It was okay...but not the look I was hoping for.  I think once her hair grows more, she'll be able to carry this style but right now it's a no.  *lol*  And it only lasted about 2 days!  The good thing is, I love the product line and will be using it to do her normal curly look this weekend.  But first....it's off to the San Diego Fair we go!
