Dress Rehearsal

It's almost the big day! In just 3 short days, our little baby will celebrate her 1st birthday. Nana and PawPaw, Al's parents, flew in from St. Louis for the occasion and Kalissa is having the best time getting acquainted with them. Since Qiana and Candy were leaving on Sunday and wouldn't be here for her actual birthday, we decided to have a mini celebration while they were still here. Daddy thought it would be best if we took the party to the park to minimize the chances of a big mess. So we all (even the dog) headed across the street for some birthday cake and a game of kickball.

It's funny how you build yourself up for an event only for it to be pretty uneventful. *lol* That's exactly how the cake eating ended up. I've seen videos of babies putting their hands all in the cake and ending up with it all over them so that's exactly what we had prepared for. Of course, Kalissa wasn't anything like that and wanted nothing to do with her cake. When we put a piece in her mouth, it was like acid was on her tongue! She immediately spit it out and tried to shake the frosting off her her hands! *lol*

*sigh* It's a good thing we did have a trial run because now I know not to waste my money on buying her a big pretty cake for Friday. Nope! We will just have ice cream because I know she'll eat a couple spoonfuls of that. Oh well...better luck next year!
