Celebrate the Small Victories!

Okay, I have to admit that Kalissa spoiled me early on. Her rapid development had me thinking this mommy thing was going to be a piece of cake. So when we hit a snag (her refusing to eat table food), I didn't know how to deal with it. It's been about 2 weeks since I've tried giving her table food as a meal and I truly haven't been looking forward to it. But since she has been showing more and more interest in what we're eating, I thought I'd give it another try last night. I put some mashed potatoes in her bowl with baby food on top. The first spoonful rendered the usual result of her whining. However, this time she didn't actually cry...just some whining. After a few bites, I think she realized that the potatoes where actually very good even if she had to move them around in her mouth before swallowing. A small victory! Granted, the potatoes were smooth and didn't have any lumps but they were kind of thick so we're celebrating! *lol* Then this morning I decided to push her a little further. I prepared her oatmeal as usual and then mashed up half a banana to see if she would eat that. I started her with a couple bites of oatmeal and then gave her a spoonful of mashed banana. And she ate it! No whining, no crying. She actually chewed it then swallowed. Yeeeessss!!!! I think we may be on to something! *lol* I'm going to take it slow but steady. My goal is to have her eating meat by her birthday. Wish us luck!

In other news...here's a random video from this morning. She says "hi", brushes her hair, and blows a kiss. She's also showing off her potbelly. *lol* She's gained a pound since last week and weighed in at 22 1/2 pounds today! Oh and her hair is beginning to fill in. Patchy, yes, but at least it's finally growing all over and not just at the top!
