Doctor's Orders

Yesterday was Kali's 6-month check up. Her pediatrician gave her two thumbs up! She was extremely impressed by Kali's progress and said that she's very advanced in her physical and language development. Her 6-month stats are: 25" in length (she's a shorty -- 25th percentile), weight is 16.5 pounds (pretty average weight -- 60th percentile). Calculating her weight for height puts her in the 87th percentile, so she's a lil' chunky. Her head circumference is 44cm which puts her in the 88th percentile! She's got a large cranium. *lol*

Then the doctor asked about her sleeping pattern. *sigh* I gave her the quick answer of "she's not sleeping through the night" and she let me have it. *lol* She said at this age she wants to see her sleeping 10 hours straight. She said I need to put her in her crib with her eyes open and let her cry if that's what the result is. Really??? Really. She said it should only take 3-4 days of training before she gets it down. So....let the games begin.

We're off to an okay start...Kali slept from 8:00 last night to 7:00 this morning but she woke up around 3 am and cried off and on for about an hour. Please wish us speedy improvement!!

I made the worst mistake of letting my daughter sleep in the bed with us (we had a baby bedmate, which was useless) and she is still sleeping in the bed (she will be 2 next month) and not her crib...ok well she takes her afternoon nap in her crib.

when she was about 5 months I would give her a warm bath and a massage while I lotioned her right before bedtime and she would sleep all night.

good luck!!
