As Kali's personality develops, people --complete strangers-- constantly tell me how she "needs an agent" and I always laugh it off. Well, last week I decided to give it another go. I submitted 3 of her most recent pictures.
Low and behold, this time I got a response back! They said she's "adorable" and wanted to know how tall she is. I responded that she's 38" (which is tall for her age). Yesterday I received another email requesting a few more images. Arrrggghhh! I didn't know how to choose the photos. Did they want to see her smile? Action shot? Posing? Full length? So I picked 5 more pictures that I thought captured her personality and sent those.
And today, they let me know that they are interested in representing her! It's completely legit with no costs involved (I learned that from Tyra Banks School of Modeling 101)...I don't even need professional pictures at this point. I'll have to put a photo composite sheet together (using the pictures I already have of her), which they will help me with, and I'll need to get Kali an entertainment work permit. Once we complete that, we just sit back and wait for our agent (I like the sound of that) to send us on auditions!
In doing my research on this agency, I came across this article which has a quote from the person I'm working with. Out of about 300 submissions per month, she only chooses about 5! I'm excited at the possibility of Kali getting some work but I'm also realistic of the chances. San Diego's not exactly a mecca for models/actors. But....Los Angeles is just a stone's throw away and we will never know if we don't try. If this is part of God's plan for her, then it will be. If not, we certainly won't cry over it. And as the Oscar losers say, "It was just nice to be nominated!" *lol*
