Happy Mother's Day to Me!

Yesterday we celebrated Mother's Day and it was absolutely perfect!  It actually started Saturday when we took a quick visit to the zoo.  We have annual passes to just about everything and I often take Kali to the different parks, even if it's just for an hour, but it's an extra-special treat for Daddy to willingly come along with us.  The weather was perfect and we had a great time seeing the animals and just walking around enjoying one another's company.

We didn't stay at the zoo long at all and afterwards, Daddy took me to our "authentic" Philly cheese steak place where I ordered a mushroom cheese steak and a Tastykake.  My intentions were to eat the TastyKake with some coffee later in the evening but I ended up calling it a night early so I requested to have my TastyKake with my morning coffee on Mother's Day (since I'm not a breakfast food person).  So yesterday morning, my Darlings made me my version of breakfast and it was fabulous.  I haven't had a TastyKake in probably 20 years because they don't sell them in California.  It was definitely worth the wait.  Next, we made our phone calls to Oma and Nana to wish our moms a very happy day.  Kali was more than happy to shout out her catch phrase for the day, "Happy Mudders Day!!"

Later, we headed over to the Woods' home where they were planning a special dinner for the three mommies of the family: Pamela, me and newest mommy, Brooklyn.  Kalissa couldn't wait to meet baby Peyton...or at least that was what she had been telling me all week.  When we got there, Kali wanted nothing to do with her!  I don't know if it was the shock of Peyton being so little (she's only a week old) or because Kali had just woke from her nap and she's grumpy like that.  *lol*  It took her about an hour or so before she warmed up to the baby and then Kali became possessive over her!  *lol*  She didn't want anyone to touch her and she wanted to feed her and hold her and at one point even proclaimed, "I am the mother!"  It was so funny!  I'm glad that Kalissa likes her and I know that will grow as Peyton gets older and more active.  It was just soooo sweet to hold the little baby and try to remember back when my little Kalibear was a week old.  Peyton is a very sweet baby and not fussy at all.  Brooklyn is a wonderful mom and seems to have the hang of it already! 

For dinner the men whipped up appetizers including bacon-wrapped scallops and shrimp cocktail.  For the main course we had steak, salmon, mashed potatoes, grilled shrimp, veggies and salad. Everything was amazingly delicious.  I'm so spoiled!!

I had a very happy Mother's Day although every single day that I wake up and see Kali's face is definitely Mother's Day!
