So Thankful...

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! It's just a day for giving thanks to the Lord for everything that has been given to us. And even though Daddy thinks he "gave" me Kali, I know better! *lol* On top of giving thanks, you get to eat yourself into oblivion! What other day could even come close?!?

This year was Kali's first taste of Thanksgiving and she did okay. We cooked a relatively lite meal: True to our tradition, Daddy fried a turkey to perfection:
and made deviled eggs, his famous greens, rolls, and a couple of sweet potato pies. I made my famous cornbread dressing and not-so-famous-but-still-yummy macaroni and cheese and opened up a can of jellied cranberry sauce. *lol* Kalissa tasted everything except the greens because Daddy makes them with jalapenos so you never have to douse them in hot sauce 'cause they bring their own heat! She didn't eat that much but seemed to love the cranberry sauce (figures!) and mac & cheese. The girl just isn't a meat eater but that's okay because there was more for us!!

As usual, we spent Black Friday at the Woods' house. Kali loves visiting her God Family...she gets spoiled with love and attention during these visits. She even got a special out-of-town phone call from Trychel (Pamela's neice)....yes, she called just to talk to Kali. I think she forgot that Kali can't hold a REAL conversation yet. *lol* It was still very sweet that she was thinking of her on her vacation. We have the best friends ever!

Well, now that Thanksgiving is over it's time to gear up for Christmas. She still has no idea of what's going on but I know she'll love to see the lights and all of the Christmas displays that people put out. Daddy and I are soooo looking forward to exposing her to all of the pretentious hoopla this year *dripping with sarcasm*. I guess we'll have to pull out the tree (I still refuse to do fresh trees) from storage next weekend. Oh joy...
