Life of the Party

I know I say it all the time, but Kalissa really is the friendliest baby around. And she loves to socialize. Today at church, she met a new little friend. We all sat in the cafeteria instead of the sanctuary today because Kalissa is going through a new phase where she cries when people leave her. Not just a little whine, but a heart-breaking cry! Thank Goodness she has never cried when I drop her at daycare...I don't think I would be able to leave her and go to work. Today when I tried to leave her at the church nursery she broke down and I didn't have the heart to just walk away. I said, "that's okay, I'll take her with me." So we ended up in the cafeteria which is where families with children go when the nurseries are full or they don't want to leave their kids there.

A little girl who was a bit smaller than Kalissa (who we later found out was actually 22 months old!) sat next to her and as soon as Kali spotted her, she went into social time. The little girl had goldfish crackers and started feeding them to Kali. It was the cutest thing and Kalissa was loving her new friend.

Later I took the girls to a kids' street festival. We walked around for a little while but there really wasn't much to do so we headed for the exit. Right at the exit/entrance was a live band. Kalissa walked right up to the front and started stomping her feet to the music. People in the crowd started video taping her and then I remembered I had my camera with me:

Poor baby got knocked down but she dusted herself off and kept on going! She danced around for a little longer and then we headed back to the car. She was so tired that I couldn't get her to crack a smile for a picture. This was the best it got:
