If You're Happy & You Know It...

Today, Kali and I were headed to Wal-Mart when a neighbor stopped to say how big Kali has gotten in such a short time. He said, "Man! It seems like just a few months ago you were waddling by walking your dogs!" hahahaha! I had to laugh at the waddling comment. I let him know that time is flying by because it's been 14 months since she arrived. Yes, our Kalissa Bear turned 14 months old this past Thursday and yes, she is surely getting big FAST! She's slimming down and growing tall. She's 23 1/2 pounds (67th percentile) and 30 3/4" tall (73rd percentile)! And she has got to be the happiest little girl around! Not only is she a happy baby, but she instantly brings happiness to everyone she meets. Yesterday we walked over to Rite-Aid and two separate people stopped their cars to watch her and then tell me how adorable she is. I suppose it's just witnessing her innocence as she soaks in the world around her that catches people's attention (not that I don't think she is super cute!). As we walk, I let her go her own pace and explain to her what everything is. She loves feeling different textures and looking at trees, flowers, and bushes. She's just curious about everything! When we got to Wal-Mart today, she said "hi" to everyone who passed by but she's been doing that ever since she learned the word 4 months ago. The cutest thing was when the checkout lady said "bye bye" to her, Kalissa turned and blew her a kiss! The woman said, "oh my goodness she just made my morning!" Yup...we gave her the perfect middle name -- our "Rae" of sunshine.

Some big changes have taken place now that she's 14 months old. The best thing is her eating! We have finally turned the corner. Feeding time is a breeze now and she eats pretty much whatever we give her without any fuss. She'll even eat french fries and hamburger if we're on the road and it's time to eat. She loves milk now too. And her new word of choice is "NO!" She'll say it before we get a chance to if she's doing something she knows she shouldn't be. She still loves to learn and watch her "Your Baby Can Read" dvds. It's been 7 months since we started her on the program and I think it works. Even her sitter (who has 2 children of her own) is impressed with how much she knows. We just encourage her as much as we can. Here she is singing along with her favorite song on the dvd. I absolutely LOVE her foot stomp and her version of "hooray". Enjoy!
