Mood Music

Over the weekend Al and I went on a tour of Mary Birch hospital….we were very pleased with the accommodations. The labor & delivery rooms are HUGE! There were about 16 people on the tour and we all fit inside the room with plenty of space for more. The nurse explained that we would be in this room until about two hours after the birth of K.Rae, then we would be moved to a recovery room for the remainder of our stay (1 – 2 days after birth). The recovery room is much smaller, but still adequate with sleeping accommodations for Al who said he will not leave us alone in the hospital. Awwww.

So back to the Labor & Delivery room…the room has a private bathroom (complete with shower), tv, and stereo. The nurse encouraged everyone to bring an ipod/mp3 player filled with “mood music”. She advised having calming music as well as something to get the party started!! She said she gave birth to Metallica. *lol* Anyone have some suggestions for ‘calming music’??? When I listen to music it’s never to calm myself, it’s always to get me in the mood to do something like clean, work out or get ready for a party, etc. Music I can't dance to irritates me. *lol* I told Al that he absolutely HAS to include this song:

I would listen to this song at the gym whenever I felt like I couldn’t do one last set. I'm not a 'rocker' by any means, but something about the infusion of rock and hip hop for this song just gave me that push I would need to get it done and it never failed! I figure if Linkin Park & Jay Z could get me through a tough workout then they’ve gotta be able to get me through that last push of labor! *lol* I don’t think Al wants our baby born to Numb/Encore but hey, when all else fails I know I can count on this song for an energy surge!

In other news, we had a doctor’s appt yesterday and everything is still great. I’ve hit 30 pounds with 6 ½ more weeks to go! Our doctor said that after 2 ½ weeks (June 20 – our 36 week mark), if I were to experience contractions again, he wouldn’t stop them. He said that babies are considered full-term at 38 weeks but he’s more than comfortable with me having her anytime after 36 weeks. Wooo hooo!! That means we could potentially have our baby girl much sooner than we planned if she decides she wants to make her debut!! I’m so excited…I really hope she comes early unless it’s going to affect her health. Each week she bakes she gains about ½ pound so we want her to continue to bake for as long as she needs to for a healthy arrival. We’ll start the count down on June 20!

I'm so excited for you!!!

Why am I playing the video and darrin is singing this song word for word. He said he runs to this song.

Question: Have I been living under a rock? I've NEVER heard of this song. LOL

p.s. I am soooooo excited about your delivery day!

hahaha! Girl, yes you have been living under a rock! *lol* That song's like 5 years old but I love it! Tell Darrin, that's wassup! :) My favorite part is the singing at the end...the guy has clearly had it up to HERE with his overbearing woman, and he just can't take no mo'! *lol*

Ooops...my bad. Al informed me that the Linkin Park song is actually about his FATHER, not an overbearing woman. Hmmm, I think I liked it better when I thought he was telling off his woman! *lol*
