Happy Father's Day!

To my husband, Al....I hope you enjoy this very special day. It is our very first Father's Day with our little angel. If she could speak, I know she would tell you how much you mean to her. Since she can't, I put together this short little video for you on her behalf.

Even though this is supposed to be Al's weekend, he just wouldn't sit still. Last week, he was away on business for a few days and I did what any bored wife would do: I created a "Honey-Do List" for his return. I didn't expect him to start on the list this weekend but he did...and even finished it. On that list was installing Kalissa's ceiling fan and book shelves. I'm in the process of converting her room from an infant nursery to a room fit for a growing toddler. Here is the result of his handy work:

The install took a little longer than expected but that's because Al had to add his personal touches. The ceiling fan was originally just plain old white, but Al hand painted pink and brown stripes on the blades so that when it spins, Kali will see a solid pink and brown stripe. I argued that it was too much work for what little affect it would provide but now that it's up, I'm glad he insisted on doing it. It ties everything together...and she loves it!

It wasn't all work for Daddy though. This morning I started off his day by making him breakfast. Ever since we joined "operation live better", he gave up some of his favorite breakfast foods. So today, I treated him with over-easy eggs, cream of wheat, real bacon, wheat toast, and coffee. I even let him watch his NFL network all afternoon....I had wanted to go to the beach but he didn't seem to be feeling that, so I let him be. Kali presented him with her finger painting from last week:

*lol* Not exactly a Picasso, but that's as good as it was getting before the fit she threw!

Happy Father's Day, Al...I hope you know just how much we love you!

Beautiful post.

I too believe the idea to paint the ceiling fan was brilliant! Looking at the picture, it really fits into the equation.

When it's all said and done - Y'all daughter's finger painting being placed into a frame is more valuable than a Picasso.

I still have such priceless reminders from my children's childhood.

I need to join Operation Live Better. Seriously. Lately, my eating has been anything but healthy.

Oops! I forgot to speak on the video! Awesome video, warm and heartfelt. Isn't that Beyonce's song in the background?

Thank you! Yes, that is one of my favorite Beyonce songs.

Trust me, Operation Live Better would not be as successful in our household if we weren't doing it as a team. I have way too many poor food choices within walking distance of our house. We hold each other accountable and it's working...but we also let up when necessary (we are just finishing a whole week of back sliding! *lol*)
