Kali's World

In 4 short months, our little KaliBear will turn 3 years old! What’s going on in her world? Well, she loves to argue about whose husband Al really is. I rarely call Al by his first name in front of her. It’s always Daddy or husband or babe, or something along those lines. She picked up “babe” a long time ago but now she’s latched on to “husband”. I think it’s because she now knows it’s a title versus just being a term of endearment like “babe”. She hears me say, “that’s my husband” just like she says, “that’s my daddy.” A couple of weeks ago, she said to me, “Mommy, that’s your husband?” and I said, “Yes. Daddy is my husband and I’m his wife.” Then she said to him, “Daddy, that’s your life?” and I corrected her by saying, “No, Kali. I’m his wife. w-w-w-wife.” To which Al responded, “She had it right the first time.” Awwwww. Anyhoo, now her favorite thing to do is to tell me, “that’s MY husband!” and we go back and forth, “no…he’s MY husband!” until she’s on the verge of tears! *lol* She just looooooves her daddy!

She’s doing great in school and her vocabulary is ever growing. Every day when I get off of work, I call her on the phone to ask how her day was and what she learned at school. The other day, her response was: “I learned about hygiene.” Hygiene?? Just to be sure she actually knew the word, I asked her what hygiene was. She responded by singing me a song that went something like:

Brush your teeth early in the morning
Wash your face early in the morning
Comb your hair early in the morning
Wash your body early in the morning

I would have never thought to teach a 2.5 year old a word like hygiene so this was yet one more affirmation that we did the right thing by taking her out of home daycare and putting her in preschool. The next day when she made a fuss about me washing her face, I reminded her that we have to do hygiene. Amazingly, she stopped fussing. I assume that’s because she now knows that EVERYBODY has to get their face washed and not just mean old mommy doing it to her! She’s also in the pre-spelling stage where she’ll see a letter and then tell you a word that starts with that letter (her favorite is K for Kalissa!). She still loves shapes. The other day she made her hands form a diamond shape and she said, “Look Mommy, a diamond!” and I said, “yes, that’s a diamond!” and she said, “a rhombus!” Okay, I didn’t know rhombus was another name for diamond until I started watching Oomie Zoomie with her! It was always just a diamond in my school days. *lol* We also have her in gymnastics class once a week. She started earlier this month so I’ll have to post a video of her progress soon. She is also so very independent. She wants to do everything by herself. Lately, she's adamant about using the bathroom by herself. She pulls down her own clothes, gets up on the seat, wipes (which is scary *lol*), pulls her clothes back up and flushes. All by herself. She also gets ready for bed by putting on her pajamas by herself. Sometimes, if I walk in on her while she's undressing she says, "No, mommy. I need privacy." hahahahahaha!

She is also still the Bell of the Ball wherever we go. This past weekend we went to our neighborhood street fair. She rode her first ride all by herself. I was a little worried that she wouldn't like it and would cry once it took off. But since she begged to go on it, I gave in....luckily she loved it!

She met Spiderman...and after a short conversation with him, declared: "I love you Spiderman!" as he walked away. *lol* I think everyone within ear shot put their hand to their heart and said "awwwwww!!!". Silly me for thinking she'd be terrified of him! I mean, really...when is "stranger danger" going to kick in??? Surely I would have been afraid of a man wearing a onesie and hosiery on his head. But not her!

Once we got to the concert area she took center stage. Had we not stopped her, she would have climbed on stage with one of the performers! *lol* She kept asking me to dance with her and I finally said yes, but then she wanted to pull me out into the middle so everyone could see her and I had to draw the line with that request! So she went into the middle by herself to say “hi”. Once the singer saw her, she announced to the audience that she found a little girl that she wanted to adopt. It was the cutest thing and Kali had a ball. I just keep wondering when she’ll find her rhythm! *lol*
